Although much research involving interviews with elected or appointed officials is often declared exempt, it must nevertheless be reviewed by institutional review boards at universities and research organizations. The work of policy analysts is usually exempt from direct human subject regulation. Nonetheless, analysts have a responsibility to those who they rely on for information. Several ethical principles and consideration should be taken into consideration while gathering information from people. The researcher should understand the relevant nature of the information. Only realistic information should be added (Weimer & Vining, 2017). Although there are stringent guidelines for the academic researchers in the United States, still a few of the researchers often go beyond the guidelines for collecting raw data. The process of interviewing of a political person or an elected person should not be exempted.
